New Zealand is the only country that allows a family to submit a single application. Getting a New Zealand Visa for Indians is an altogether different process when compared to other countries. It offers an online as well as offline (Paper-based) process. Visitor Visa is the most selected category for Indians wherein it allows for tourism as well as meeting family & friends.

Online Application – Online application requires us to fill up an online form of around 15 pages including your passport details, family, employment and your travel plans. The final step into this will be uploading documents, paying fees.

For an online application following will be the details:

Application form – Fill up an online application by selecting the appropriate category from the options available. This form includes your personal details, the purpose of visit in brief if a partner and dependent children traveling then their personal details. If not then only partner details. Employment details, character details.

2.Passport – Current Passport Pages having an immigration stamp or visa must be scanned including Bio Pages. Old Passport having an immigration stamp or visa must be scanned including Bio Pages.

3.Photo – A color scanned photograph with following dimensions of 35mm x 45mm with white background with the close of your head and top of your shoulders covering 80% face, matt finish and it must be recently clicked.

4. Cover letter – Prepare a cover letter in detail with your name, passport number including family/friends who will be a part of this trip with their name and passport no. Your employment details, the purpose of travel. If invited by a family or friend, their details with name, passport number, their contact no, mail id and residential address if you will stay with them during your stay in New Zealand. Any other details which we are unable to describe in the form in New Zealand tourist Visa for Indians because of space constraint can be mentioned in the cover letter. Take a print of cover letter & sign and scan it.

5. Additional Documents – All the additional documents which will be a part of an application need to be scanned and uploaded. Following will be the list of documents which will form a part of your application.:

The last 6 months updated and attested personal bank statements on A4size paper as it needs to be scanned and uploaded.

Any other financial documents to prove your financial status apart from bank statement

Last 3 Years Income Tax Returns or Form 16

Leave letter from the company

Last 3 months salary slip

Appointment/Offer letter from the company

In the case of self-employed – GST Certificate, Last 6 months current account bank statement attested by the bank, Company Income Tax Returns

Incase of Invite – Invite letter, Passport copy, Visa copy or Residence Card, Residence proof, Tax Papers.

Incase of purpose only being tourism – Reserved hotel booking. No confirmed or vouchered hotel booking is mandatory. Air Ticket if booked not mandatory.

In case of sponsor – sponsorship letter, sponsor’s bank statement, sponsor’s Income Tax Returns, Passport copy of sponsorer.

All the above-mentioned list of documents which include Passport, photo, cover letter, and additional documents, needs to scan and save in one folder. Once you fill-up the application form you will be guided towards uploading the documents. You need to upload all the documents one by one as per the checklist shown on site.

Once you are done with uploading all the documents you will be guided to a payment page wherein you will be paying an online fee of NZD 246 which equals approximately INR 11,512/- with the help of a debit or credit card. Once the payment is completed an online receipt will be generated which needs to print.

After completion of the entire online process, you need to visit your nearby VFS center with all the passports and the online receipt generated after making the payment. At the VFS Center, they will scan the entire current passport and also take a xerox of all the pages of the current passport with an additional fee of INR 722/- which can be paid in cash or card directly at the VFS center.

The processing time of an online visa will be approximately 33 – 45 calendar days.

Note: E-visa will be shared on mail id mentioned in the form by New Zealand Immigration and also can be viewed on the application page which has been submitted online.

Offline (Paper Based) Application – Offline application requires you to collect all the documents on paper of A4 size and visiting the center physically and submitting it.

For An Offline Application Following Will Be The Details:

Application form – You need to take a printout of an application form of 16 pages which is available free on the New Zealand VFS Center Website or New Immigration website. Form Number – NZ1017 or NZ1189 based on your purpose of travel. This form needs to fill handwritten with a blue or black ballpoint pen.

Cover Letter – Prepare a cover letter in detail with your name, passport number including family/friends who will be a part of this trip with their name and passport no. Your employment details, the purpose of travel. If invited by a family or friend, their details with name, passport number, their contact no, mail id and residential address if you will stay with them during your stay in New Zealand. Any other details which we are unable to describe in the form because of space constraint can be mentioned in the cover letter.

After collecting all the documents with print on A4 size paper. You need to visit your nearby VFS center to submit all the documents with Original old & new Passport. The passport will be scanned by the center and returned back immediately by taking xerox of all the pages of the current passport.

The visa fees can be paid in cash or by debit/credit card. Charges of the same will be of NZD 246 which equals to INR 11,512/-. Additional charges of INR 1,087/- will be collected in cash or debit/credit card by VFS center as their service charge and convenience fee.

The processing time of an offline visa will be approximately 33 – 45 calendar days.

Note: Offline – Paper-based application will also have an e-visa which will be sent by New Zealand Immigration to you across the mail id mentioned by you on the form submitted to the VFS Center.
