UK Work Visa From India

The United Kingdom which is highly developed & having a market-orientated economy allows people around the world for employment purposes. London is among the major business center in the world as well as the second-largest financial center which forms part of the UK economy. For having employment in the UK you need to hold a valid work visa based on the employment you will be taking up.

Long Term UK Work Visa – General Worker Tier 2

This visa allows you to work in the UK if you are been offered a skilled job in the UK and you are not residing in the European Economic Area & Switzerland.

Eligibility for General Work Visa Tier 2

You must hold a valid certificate of sponsorship for the job in the UK.
You must be able to show you are been paid an appropriate salary for the job you will be taking up in the UK.
You need to prove that you know to speak, read, write, and understand
Hold sufficient funds to support when you arrive in the UK.
You need to show your travel history in the last 5 years.

Getting Sponsored

You have to be employed by a licensed sponsor to live and apply in the UK.
You need to be qualified for the visa if they hire you and your eligibility and this is checked by your sponsor. The sponsor will provide a certificate of sponsorship if you are eligible.
The sponsor will be guiding you on when you need to apply, related information, and how much you will be paid.

Documents to apply for Tier -2 work visa

Certificate of the Sponsorship reference number
Proof of passing Approved English Language test for reading, writing, speaking & listening.
Bank Statement showing enough funds.
Passports
Criminal Record Certificate for Education field, Social Workers or Healthcare field.

Procedure to apply for Tier -2 work visa

You need to fill an online form for the Tier -2 general visa.
Pay online fees
Book an appointment
Visit the VFS center
Pay for health surcharge
Submit documents
Submit Biometrics

Documents required for UK Work Visa From India

Processing time & Validity of the Visa

The earliest you can apply for the visa is 3 months before you start working in the UK. The start date will be mentioned on the Sponsor certificate.
The decision on the visa will be received within 3 weeks when you are applying from outside the UK.
With this Tier-2 visa, you can stay for a maximum of 5 years and 14 days or as mentioned on the certificate of sponsor and an additional 1 month, whichever is shorter in the term.
You can arrive in the UK 14 days before the start date mentioned on the sponsor certificate.

If you have valid work permit you can also call your family member to visit you in UK, Apply UK Visit Visa for them

Note:

By opting for an express service you can pay an extra £ 500 for getting the decision in 5 working days.
By paying an extra £ 800 you can opt for priority service to get the decision by the end of the next working day.

Do’s and Don’t’s with this visa

Do’s

You can work for your sponsor for the job as mentioned on the certificate of sponsorship.
You can do a second job in certain conditions.
You can take up voluntary work.
You can study as long as it doesn’t alter your job.
You can travel abroad and return.
You can bring your family members.

Dont’s

You can’t own more than 10% of your sponsor’s share. You need to earn £ 159,600 per annum to do so.
You cannot get public funds.
You can’t apply for a second job until you start working for your current sponsor.

Points to Remember

You need to have a valid sponsorship certificate to apply for this visa.
You need to prove that you know to speak, read, write, and understand
If you want to change your job with the new employer, you need to make a new visa application.
Visa processing time is of 8 weeks for a standard application unless you use express service.
Your family members (dependents) can come with you when you come to the UK on a Tier-2 visa but they need to hold a visa for coming to the UK.
