Eligibility for applying for Australia Transit Visa

 

  • Holding a Passport with a validity of 6 months while transiting through Australia.
  • You need to prove that you are a genuine visitor to the other country and have no intention to stay back in Australia except for transit time.
  • You need to hold the ticket and visa for the actual destination/third country.

 

Procedure for applying for Australia Transit Visa

 

  • Australia transit visa is an online process and you need to scan all the documents. All these scanned documents will be uploaded in JPEG or PDf format as advised on the Immigration website with the application.
  • Before you start with the online application on the Immigration Website you must be aware of the category you have to select. Transit Category comes under Australia Visitor Visa – Subclass 771 this includes transit in Australia while traveling to the third country.
  • The application form will have details related to personal, employment, family, finance, documents proving your exit from Australia, third-country visa copy.
  • You need to file a separate application for Australia Transit Visa, unlike New Zealand which has one visa for family members.
  • Australia Transit visa application allows you to log in at our convenience and fill up the details in parts by saving the details.
  • On completion of the online application form, you will be required to upload the scanned documents.
  • After submission of the form, you do not need to make any payment for Transit Visa Fees. You will receive a mail on the registered mail id on the successful submission of the form. Get all Australia Visa Fees.

  • You can upload the documents through the Immigration website through your profile which was created for applying for the visa.

When can I apply for an Australia Transit Visa?
You can apply at least 90 days before your intended transit date from Australia.
What will be the period of stay while holding a Transit Visa in Australia?
The stay period is normally for 3 days from the date of arrival or else as mentioned on the visa which needs to be strictly followed.
Do I need to issue travel insurance while applying for a transit visa?
No, Travel Insurance is not required for applying for a transit visa however, it is advisable to issue travel insurance before any international trip.
Do I need to have confirmed Air Tickets and Hotel Bookings for Australia while applying for the transit visa?
Yes, Air Tickets are mandatory to prove you are transiting through Australia while traveling to the third country. However, Hotel Bookings are not mandatory while applying for a visa.
If my Australia Transit visa gets rejected can I reapply?
Yes, you can apply again However, you are required to submit the documents which are stated as insufficient on the rejection letter. Also, take the support of the travel agent to avoid further rejection.
Are the visa fees refunded in case of rejection of the visa?
No, Transit Visa doesn’t have any Consulate charges.

How to check the online status of the Australia Transit Visa application?

  • On completion of the entire online process, you need to check the status after 8-10 days by logging into the profile also, Immigration Department will mail the visa copy on the registered Mail ID. Visa will be an E-Visa.
